We aren't fond of the term Pre-School. Within our Nursery all our staff are full time, all have Level 3 or Early Years degrees and all our children in this section work within 1:8 ratios. Some other pre-schools only operate at 1:13. In addition, our older children engage in high quality embedded play/learning EYFS activities not for 38 weeks but for 50 weeks/yr. Our Squirrel Room staff, managed by Nadine, plan collectively and while they are specialists in the delivery of the EYFS they also extend their ideas beyond these expectations and include a range of out of nursery visits.
We are proud of the work that we do in this area and our planning is made available to our parents with this website. Within this group our thematic activities take place in addition to our daily literacy and numeracy activities. Again, within a modern building our children have free flow ground-floor access to covered and open outside play spaces. Last year 95% of our parents chose to stay with us for the final nursery year so using the extended government funding for up to 50 weeks/year.
