We are inspected regularly by Allerdale Borough Council (Food and Occupational Health) for the Food Standards Agency. After examination of our procedures (last done 13th March 2024) we were awarded the highest Food Hygiene Rating. We have been at 5 stars since 2009. Our hot lunches are produced by Helen Aubert Milburn who is the cook at Lorton Primary School. We produce breakfasts, healthy morning and afternoon snacks and light teas within the Nursery. These are developed within a seasonal theme. Lunch is charged separately although up to the point of receipt of the Nursery Grant other meals are included in the fee (the Nursery Grant does not include any payment for food within it's remit). The new menus have been divided into Early Spring, Late Spring, Early Summer, Late Summer, Early Autumn, Late Autumn, Early Winter and Late Winter. They can be viewed after log in. We recently have installed a new kitchen in the Squirrels Room (with better storage - and we added a new fan assisted fridge). In the new extension we have added another larger kitchen as well as a dining room for Butterflies and Squirrels - this is where we have lunch and tea.
