Butterflies Room  |  18 months – 31 months

Supporting independence, confidence, communication and social development.

The Butterflies Room is a key stage in your child’s early development, supporting independence, confidence, communication, and social skills in a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment. It builds on early experiences through a carefully balanced mix of structured learning and child-led play.

Children benefit from a rich daily routine designed to encourage independence and exploration. The room supports key self-help skills such as self-feeding, toilet training, and early self-care, while also promoting emotional wellbeing, comfort, and security. Dedicated low-level toilets and supportive routines help children develop confidence at their own pace.

Indoor & Outdoor Learning

The environment offers continuous access to indoor and outdoor learning through free-flow play areas and a covered 25-metre indoor–outdoor canopy. This allows children to explore, move, and learn freely throughout the day in all weather conditions.

Meals & Nutrition

Meals and snacks are provided throughout the day, including a healthy seasonal menu. Milk and water are available at all times, and children are supported to develop positive eating and social habits. Younger children eat within the room, while older children may also enjoy shared dining experiences that encourage independence and social interaction.

Learning & Development

A strong focus is placed on communication, early literacy, numeracy, creativity, and physical development. Children engage in songs, stories, mark-making, counting, role play, sensory exploration, construction, music, movement, and outdoor learning. Early dental care and healthy hygiene habits are also gently introduced to support lifelong wellbeing.

Settling In

A Parent Handbook is provided to support families with key information for a smooth and confident experience. To support a gentle introduction, we offer two taster sessions so children can become familiar with their new surroundings, staff, and daily rhythm in a relaxed and supportive way.
